Christmas Cookies! By Rachel Starr, Receptionist at Dignity Medical Aesthetics

I got hooked on the Christmas Cookie tradition when I met my husband.  There is a long tradition in his family of making Spritz cookies. The name spritz is from the German word spritzen, meaning “to squirt” because the soft dough is squirted or pushed through a spritz cookie press to make fancy designs. Butter is responsible for the tender, rich texture and flavor of these yummy little cookies.  There are variations on recipes, and I’ve been sworn to secrecy on the family recipe, but I’ve included a link to Betty Crocker’s version here.  You can get as fancy or simple as you want.  My daughter loves to make tye-dyed version in bright colors to mix in with traditional ones.  They’re great for adding to gift jars or tins and are always one of the first plates to disappear at holiday parties.  If Spritz aren’t  your thing, we found some of these fun cookie recipes to add to the baking fun.
